The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) certifies that computer users are able to work with widespread application programs. It is recognized in 148 countries.

The ECDL comprises seven modules:

• Module 1: Fundamentals of Information Technology
• Module 2: Computer and Managing Files (operating system)
• Module 3: Word Processing
• Module 4: Spreadsheet
• Module 5: Database
• Module 6: Presentation program
• Module 7: Information and Communication (Internet and e-mail)
  
  

It is also possible to take the so-called ECDL-Start consisting of four modules.

The ECDL has existed for many years. But only since the end of 2006 blind and visually impaired people have had the possibility to take this exam in Germany. The exams and the preparation courses can be provided by the college.
