Support and Care Area

Individuals who are not (or are not yet) able to participate in our Workshop for the Visually Impaired due to the severity of their disabilities will receive special care and support in the Support and Care Area.

This is where these individuals can experience social contact and develop their abilities and discover new ones. Steady routine and structured activities will provide them with a feeling of comfort and security.

ver new ones. Steady routine and structured activities will provide them with a feeling of comfort and security.

Our top priority is to provide special support and care to blind and visually impaired individuals.

The Support and Care Area is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is located in Building 18 of our facility.

Our Programs

It is very important to us to provide disabled individuals with a feeling of comfort and security with a structured routine. Therefore, we begin every day with a Good Morning Circle, where we greet everyone and go over their day`s activities with them. We eat, listen to and play music together, practice simple household tasks, relax in the Snoezelenraum common room, exercise our senses on the Airtram in the gymnasium, and get to know the world on field trips and excursions. We make things out of fabric, cork, wood, paper, and many other materials during work therapy, which increases our creativity, endurance, and communication skills. We even practice simple sorting tasks.  To give blind and visually impaired individuals special interaction with their environment, we work with sounds, smells, and various materials. We explain all of our activities vocally so that blind and visually impaired individuals know what`s going on around them. The physiotherapists, speech therapists, and other specialists at the facility help us in our work.

Our Staff

Four dedicated staff members, trained in therapeutic educatinal and pedagogical techniques, work in our Support and Care Area. Volunteers and interns help us occasionally. We work closely with various therapeutic facility and SFZ specialists. The Life and Work Area Social service is also there to help you.
