Examination of the work place

An analysis of the workplace is often recommended by the employer or trainer / teacher, or the Employment Agency / Integration Office or pension insurance.

The goal is to optimize the work place of a visually impaired person. Usually the examination is carried out in the company, at the computer work place or practical work areas. In schools and in the home environment, such an investigation can be carried out too. The advantage of an examination on the site is the realistic assessment of available options and opportunities at the work place.

In order to effectively contribute at the work place the visiual capacity and all existing functional visual functions have to be assessed and optimized. This can be realized by various components.

  • Lighting conditions
  • working position
  • Working distance
  • Materials
  • aids and visual aids

Firstly, it is important to analyze the working manner of the person concerned and the place of work. Attention is paid to the materials present, the interacting with them and their arrangement at the work place. Depending on the demands of the person concerned and the existing tools (glasses, magnifying glass, ...) an analysis of the glasses is carried out. Subsequently, the light conditions are assessed.

Several lamps of different colour and light intensity are tested to find out the best possible light situation for the person. The position of the lamps are considered. If there is a window in the room, the work place such as a table, should be optimally aligned to the window to avoid glare and reflections. A further improvement of the visual performance can be achieved by special visual aids.

This offer is available in the vision support centres in Chemnitz, Dresden, Berlin and Königs Wusterhausen.
