Basic technical training for the blind (BTTB) is a very intensive form of rehabilitation that can last up to a year.
During BTTB, specific techniques for those with visual impairments are taught, regardless of whether the impairment was present at birth or when it was acquired. These techniques enable youth, young adults, and adults to pursue a vocational training program successfully. This promotes successful integration into social life and the ability to meet daily challenges.
Our program includes training in orientation and mobility, Braille, and practical life skills. Several technical aids for the blind such as white canes, Braille machines, PCs with Braille technology, and kitchen appliances are available and are used for training.
At the beginning of the training program, we assess your individual abilities, skills, and needs, which determine the duration and content of your program.
Our specially trained staff (rehabilitation specialists and therapists) is responsible for teaching. The interdisciplinary nature of the SFZ facility and cooperation between different departments allow quick and flexible reactions to your support needs.
This offer is available in the vision support centres in Chemnitz, Dresden, Berlin and Königs Wusterhausen.
