Visual Function

An incurable eye disease can impair the vision, but does not have to simultaneously restrict independence. The visual function therapy deals with the maximum use of existing vision in the case of visual impairment.

In the visual function therapy in addition to the adaptation of aids and the training in dealing with these, we have the possibility of using special vision training to improve the vision.

For those concerned with central scotoma, which is often a symptom of age-related macular degeneration, a retinal area outside the lost visual field can be supported by means of an eccentric vision training, and reading will be possible again. In cortical visual function damage, caused for example after an accident or a stroke, unilateral visual field defects occur. In such cases, a training of the view movements or cognitive concentration and attention training is useful.

A training of visual skills or activities in their respective area (at home or at work) with or without aids are offered by us, too. A follow-up care can also be obtained. This ensures that problems can quickly be eliminated and in case of emerging problems more help can be offered.

This offer is available in the vision support centres in Chemnitz, Dresden, Berlin and Königs Wusterhausen.
